It isn't like this was a gradual onset of a problem, so I don't think the radiator is clogged.
If I bring it up even more to 2300-2500 rpm's for another 5 mins the temp will come up to 100 degrees on the gauge and the heat really comes up The weird thing is the gas guage reads 1/4 tank all the time, even when full. It's fairly easy to replace (a tight area, but not that bad), and doesn't cost but about $10. Kinda hard to diagnose without knowing what the PCM is seeing, but since you haven't mentioned any codes, I'm going to assume the sensor itself is ok.
I definitely didn't see a 5" rood sticking out into the hose. That would both raise the boiling point of the cooland and impede circulation. This 'valve' also allows a bit of coolant flow thru the rad when the engine is cold. During that time my engine temp peaked at about 240 w/ no A/C. (norm being around 190-200) Red line is 260.
Funny you sent that tonight... The other possibility I suppose is a compression/exhaust gas leak into the cooling system creating pressure.
