Dell Xps M1330 Overheating Solution
They make a 13.3" version which would only cost a fraction more at that spec. I'm just about to buy one, and don't play games or encode video/audio. This is a known and widespread problem with the current model XPS laptops but Dell is leaving it's customers out to dry with no protection. This was the thermal pad they used over the processor.

Same with any piece of hardware, it's just dumb this thread has gone on the way it is when Dell's warranty is next business day replacement and you can keep going By adjusting fan speeds etc doens't imply there's a problem at all, just making things better thats all. Since then Dell have had to replace the graphics card and motherboard twice – it seems to break down roughly every 6 months.
I would like to know is there something I should do before buying a new fan?

After 6 months and 6 replacements I demanded a new machine, and after a few dozen phone calls and a few hours Dell eventually sent out a new replacement, which I I have only recommended Dell to my customers due to this level of service I recieve and have not had any complaints. It is about time customers started sharing their experiences so that others can be warned!

He should not be forced to spend more money to extend his warranty for a Dell design flaw that was known about by Dell and the customer when it was still
The motherboard was replaced one year back with a Nvidia graphics card problem. Good read, but to what extent it plays true is not known!!!! And the excessive temperatures of the GPU can easily be seen on any m1330 with a 8400 during benchmarks/games/graphics intense applications from data provided by the temperature sensors within the GPU.
