I don't have the 32 bit version of Windows 7 installed and have not had this issue on the 64 bit version. This key only works if Dell ContolPoint is installed. (You may have to press and hold the Fn key first, for it to work.) The one I had in there was a Momentus 7200.2 160 GB Seagate SATA drive and I upgraded to a Momentus 5400 500 GB SATA Seagate drive.
Also I would recommend testing the XPS M1210 for yourself using the Windows 7 upgrade advisor http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/upgrade-advisor.aspx (it is a beta version).
