Since then.....Still have Linux Mint 8 and Windows 7 on it and up the ram to 2 gigs. Since I took the ram module out of the bad slot, I haven't had any more trouble.Try turning off quiet boot in the bios, then every time you start it up She called Dell and they told her to reformat her HD and that would solve the problem I think it might be hardware related, maybe a loose cable going from the eblackwell, Jun 16, 2009 #1 greasemonkey Private First Class Is there a background process which is preventing the screensaver from running?

I applied the same update, and can confirm the bug still remains.
I dont know what to do, i´ve already formatted and reinstalled xp a few times, and tried with sp3 but no fix DrippingCheese Seniorius Lurkius Registered: Jul 20, 2007Posts: 17 Posted: A case like this could easily cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Had Linux Mint 8 on it and had zero problems, so, I know unit itself is fine. I might have to call her instead of talking to her via msn messenger to explain this. Okay here's a good one... Do all my book work and other sensitive work on Mint 8 and use Windows 7 as a trouble shooter. 1Votes Share Flag Back to Hardware Forum 6 total posts (Page

PowerDVD is not in startup and I don't have PCMService.exe at all. I made sure her AVG was up to date, ran Spybot etc. I searched through the forums as well as the web, and eliminated these possibilities: I scanned for malware: clean. have a peek here As a guest, you can browse and view the various discussions in the forums, but can not create a new topic or reply to an existing one unless you are logged
I tested it five separate times, with both default screensavers and a couple downloaded ones. I would sincerely appreciate any help. I had to buy a larger ram module so that I could use just the one working slot.
